Bridgework is a common and trusted treatment for missing teeth and our dentists at Meadows Dental Care are well-practised in fitting these restorations.
While bridges can be made of metals such as gold or alloy, we have found that porcelain bridges are often the most popular. Natural in appearance, a good porcelain bridge will blend into your mouth, so no one can tell that you have lost any of your original teeth.
Over two appointments, we can fit you with a functional, attractive bridge.
We will first take impressions of your teeth so that our laboratory can create your custom-made bridge. While you wait for this, we will provide you with a temporary bridge.
A traditional dental bridge is supported on either side by your remaining natural teeth which are fitted with crowns. Before a crown can be permanently placed on your natural teeth, some preparation is required to ensure it sits properly and comfortably. The crowns act as anchors for the dental bridge – so named as it literally bridges the gap between the two supporting teeth.
At the next appointment, we will fit you with your permanent bridge. While the process is not painful, you may be given local anaesthetic to numb the area being treated.
Bridges can last for a lifetime if cared for properly. We can provide advice on how to look after your dental restoration.
