A dental crown sits on top of an affected tooth to add strength if it has broken, deteriorated due to decay or has become misshapen. Crowns are also used when you require bridgework, as they act as an anchor to hold the bridge in situ.
Crowns are ideal for cases where a natural tooth can be saved. We always strive to maintain your original teeth and a crown allows us to keep as much of your natural tooth as we can.
At Meadows Dental Care we offer patients crowns made from a variety of materials including metal, porcelain, resin and ceramic. Tooth-coloured crowns are often the preferred choice as these blend into the mouth and are barely visible.
While tooth-coloured options are more expensive, we offer a range of finance options to help you spread the cost of treatment and benefit from our dental expertise.
You can leave Meadows Dental Care with fully a functional crown after just two visits.
Our dentist will first take impressions of your teeth to ensure our laboratory can create the perfect crown for your teeth. We will then need to prepare the affected tooth so that the crown can be properly fixed onto it. While the process is not painful, you may be given local anaesthetic to numb the area being treated.
While you wait for your permanent crown, we will fit you with a temporary solution. At your next visit, your permanent crown will be bonded to the affected natural tooth.
